A simple check takes ten seconds. Place one hand on your chest and one on your belly and breathe normally without changing anything. If the upper hand moves substantially more, that is the pattern running all day.

Retraining it is genuinely slow and worth it. A few minutes daily of lying on your back, knees bent, breathing so the lower hand rises and the upper stays still, gradually shifts the default.
